A Madagascar vacation lends
itself to more than just a beach holiday. As the world's
fourth biggest island there is much to explore and be seen on
this Mystical Island of Madagascar. To appreciate the full
diversity of the Madagascar wildlife, culture, amazing plant
life and unusual Tsingy rock formations you need to travel through the
forests, through villages and across the countryside, finally
enjoying 5 days of relaxation on
the beaches of Nosy Be Island.
This adventure holiday tour takes
us to the northernmost tip of Madagascar, Diego Suarez & then
south west to Nosy Be Island. Diego is situated on the shores
of the second largest natural bay in the world and a strategic
safe deep water harbour to shipping with dry docks and other
shipping services. Due to its logistical value it saw
conflict in both the World Wars as can be witnessed from the
artillery gun emplacements at the entrance to the bay, still
visible today.

From South Africa you arrive at
Antananarivo airport at 13.55 and are transferred to your hotel.
Afternoon optional excursions could include - a city tour
- the Artisans Flea Market - or the Lemur Park just south of
Tana.
Dinner, Bed & Breakfast and overnight. |

Monday
Day 2
|
07.00 hours depart Antananarivo with Air Madagascar for a 1.55
hr flight to the most northern town of Madagascar, Diego Suarez,
via Nosy Be. On arrival at Diego Suarez airport, we are
collected and set off for a guided tour of the area. We cover
Sugarloaf, 3 Bays, WW2 Guns at entrance to the Bay, returning
via Ramena beach, depending on time available. A picnic lunch
on the beach is included. Dinner, and overnight at Hotel Le
Panorama,
Diego Suarez.

Day 3 |
|
We set off early to the
Amber Mountain,
a long-extinct volcano covered by primary
tropical rainforest, including craters and waterfalls. A
bewildering array of animals and plants that have specially
adapted to thrive in this moist 'island' of biological
diversity. Lemurs, birds, chameleons, geckos, and truly
immense rain forest trees, are among some of the natural
wonders you will encounter.

Wednesday
Day 4 |

Today we travel south to
the Ankarana Nature Reserve stopping to view the unusual
limestone pinnacle formations called Red Tsingy on the way.
The Red Tsingy is a
geologic oddity sculpted by erosion
into a completely unique work of nature. It is completely
unlike other better-known limestone Tsingy.
Picnic Lunch, Dinner, Bed & Breakfast and overnight at
Ankarana East in Tsingy Lodge.

Thursday
Day 5 |
Today our guide takes out into the forest exploring the
Ankarana East Reserve rich in endemic fauna and flora,
lemurs and birds. Visiting some of the caves you will see
stalagmites, stalactites, immense rooms, underground rivers,
and fantastic fauna and flora. We also get the opportunity
to see the Grey Tsingy in Ankarana as we further explore
this mystical land. Picnic Lunch, Dinner, Bed & Breakfast
and overnight at Ankarana East in the Tsingy Lodge. |

Friday
Day 6 |
After Breakfast we continue on from Ankarana past
plantations of vanilla, coffee & cacao to the
village
of Anikify, opposite Nosy Be Island.
We are transferred to our speed boat for the half hour
crossing to the Port of Nosy Be. Passing the islands of
Nosy Komba on our right and the Marine Reserve of Nosy
Tanikely on our left.
We are met at the Port of
Nosy Be and transferred to Nosy Be Hotel

You have 5 glorious days
to relax & explore Nosy Be island.
Dinner, Bed & Breakfast at Nosy Be Hotel is all included.
There is much that can
be enjoyed. From the beach to activities such as a
quad bike tour, sea plane flip along the island, fishing,
snorkelling and scuba diving, or just lazing along in a
canoe. The choices are yours to enjoy. The hotel has an
activity centre next to the Pool bar where various excursions can be arranged.
Included in your package is a complimentary full day tour visiting the
island of Nosy Komba by boat in the morning and the
afternoon on Nosy Tanikely.
Transfers are by speed boat from the harbour. On Nosy Komba you have
the opportunity to mix with the village people see their
culture and get
involved with some village shopping and see their collection
of Lemurs, Chameleons & Boa Constrictor snakes.
A short boat trip
transfers you to the Marine Reserve around Nosy Tanikely.
Here you can snorkel right off the beach and admire the rich
coral and tropical fish life. Mask, fins and snorkel
can be hired on the beach. Lunch is served on the beach and
consists of various delicacies including crab etc while the
local friendly Lemur colony looks on. The Lemurs are
very tame and can be hand-fed with bananas. Don't
forget the camera !

Day 12 |
Your flight departs Nosy Be at 09.10 - ETA Tana 10.15.
This should give you time to connect with your International
flight home. If you have time to spare a visit to the
local Lemur park just south of Tana can be arranged.
The flight to South Africa departs at 11.40 - ETA Johannesburg
