Day 1 |
Arrive at
Antananarivo airport late afternoon and transfer to your hotel.

Sunday
Day 2
|
After breakfast you are collected
and transferred to the famous Perinet Forest travelling approximately 140
km from Antananarivo through the highlands. You arrive at
Perinet in time to freshen up before joining your guide for
an evening walk in the rain forest in search of the main species
of nocturnal animals.
Dinner is served in the restaurant around a welcoming log fire,
before settling in for the night in your chalet.

Monday
Day 3 |
An early breakfast is served and then you
join your guide in search of the largest of all
lemurs - the baboon-sized Indri. The forest echoes with
the eerie call of these elusive animals. There are
several other species of lemur living in the forest as well as
many other small animals and fascinating insects. Perinet
rainforest covers an area of 12 810 hectares of dense primary
rainforest.
By mid-morning you leave the rain forest and
continue east
for about 2 hours to Manambato. Chez Luigi hotel lies on a sandy white
beach overlooking the beautiful natural lake.

Tuesday
Day 4 |
After breakfast you board a speed
boat on the Pangalanes
Canal. After about an hour cruising along this
intriguing canal with its many little villages you arrive
at Akanin'ny Nofy, a small town on the edge of the canal.
Arriving at a Private Reserve where you can enjoy a 2 hour walk
seeing various lemurs, birds and plants in the
forest. The afternoon is free for you to enjoy at
your leisure either exploring the village or just relaxing on
the fresh-water beach. Overnight Palmarium,

Wednesday
Day 5 |
Today you board your speed boat again to continue along the
Pangalanes Canal to Tamatave. Along the way you will pass
many villages and dugout canoes with their bamboo rafts which
are used to transport various goods up and down the canal.
On arriving at Tamatave, the main port of Madagascar, you
transfer to your hotel. As an optional extra you may wish to ask
at reception for a guided tour viewing the remaining colonial
architecture, the main market and smell the fragrant spices.

Thursday
Day 6 |
This morning you transfer by road
to Ivongo approx 140 Km north of Tamatave to meet with your
ferry. The crossing to St Marie is approx 30 Km. Normally
it is a reasonably smooth crossing being sheltered between the mainland
and the island of St Marie. During the whale season
(July/Sept) you are almost guaranteed to see Hump Back Whales leaping from the water. You are met at the little harbour and
transferred to your hotel. Overnight Vani

Friday
Day 7 |
Vani Vola is a charming French
owned hotel right on the beach. Your hostess will happily
advise you on various attractions on the island: Jungle
treks; visit to the pirates cemetery & zoo to name a few.
During the whale season - July / September - boat trips can
be arranged to view these gentle giants of the seas.

Saturday
Day 8 |
You can hire a small motor bike and
set off with a picnic lunch in search of your own little
paradise beach or explore the little town and
harbour where you can relax at a street-side cafe and watch
islanders going about their daily tasks.
There is a boat trip to the nearby picturesque island of
Ile Aux Nattes off the southern tip of Sainte
Marie with excellent beaches and coral to snorkel. Lemur
spotting and a fine lunch can be enjoyed, enquire at reception.

Sunday
Day 9 |
Your day is at your leisure - maybe
visit the Pirate's Grave Yard and the Lemur Zoo - afternoon
perhaps a visit to the smaller island of Ile Aux Nattes 100meters
across the channel in a dugout - see island photo on right -
ideal for some swimming and snorkelling.

Monday
Day 10 |
Your last day at your leisure to
relax or enjoy those last minute activities that you missed on
the Island of Sainte Marie.

Day 11 |
Early transfer to the airport for your
flight to Antananarivo arriving at 9.30am. You
therefore have the balance of the day at leisure.
Optional excursions could include a city tour, the
Artisans Craft Market - or the Lemur Park just south of
Tana.

Day 12 |
Transfer to Antananarivo Ivato
Airport for your International flight home.

You can
shorten the above tour by flying back on Day 7 from Sainte
Marie overnight Tana
and catch the Saturday flight out.
